Friday Favorites: Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Happy Friday!  Mother's Day is right around the corner and I wanted to share with you some of my favorite gift ideas including a gracious discount with a wonderful artist who does custom portraits (see below).

While the sentiment behind Mother's Day is what makes it truly special; I don't know a Mom out there who doesn't deserve a token of appreciation.  Candles, jewelry and flowers may not be outside of the box, but I think these picks are the cream of the crop:

2) Beauty products:  This hand cream from Aesop is useful but far from pedestrian.  Their products make everything feel luxurious.  

3) Coffee table books: I'm anxiously awaiting the publication of Mark D. Sike's book, All-American Decorating .  It would be such a nice addition to a coffee table or bookshelf.  

4) Jewelry:  The cuff's from Margaret Elizabeth are perfectly stackable and come in such a variety of pretty hues.  


5) Candles:  Spoil her with the holy grail of candles, Diptyque.  


6) Pretty Water Bottle:  The one's from S'well have been on my radar for a while.  They keep things hot or cold, come in the best colors and patterns and their slim fit would be an easy addition to a diaper bag or purse.  

7) Cute flats:  What Mom doesn't love shoes?  These classic spring kicks from Superga are at the top of my list! 

8) Perfume:  While this is personal to many women, I recently smelled this one while at Duty Free and was huffing the sample card the entire flight home. It's light, springy and seems universally flattering.  

9) Sleepware:  Spring and summer are the perfect time for wearing men's inspired sleep shirts.  This one from JCrew is supposed to be very comfy and monogram-able! 

10)  Flowers:  Mat never fails to be amazed at the power of flowers.  Call me simple, but white roses are my love language.  What are yours?

Gift Guide: For the Girls

1) When I saw the new collection by Little Ghost, this clutch jumped to the top of my wish list.  The size is perfect for a diaper bag keep-all but equally suited for a night on the town.  My dear friend, Amber, is the brains behind the brand; she has the whole I'm-a-mom-but-still-unbelievably-cool-thing down, so I take notes. 

2) What girl isn't a tab bit obsessed with Instagram?  This mini instagram projector will perfectly highlight the past year's favorite memories.  It's a keepsake that she'll enjoy as much the kids.

3) Earrings that play double-duty work just as hard as she does-- whether or not that's in an office, these are the perfect pair.  

4) It may seem pedestrian, but I assure you this hair towel changes the way she'll get ready.  

5) Because regardless of where you live (ah 'em, Canada) it's always a good idea to have Southern cuisine at your finger tips.  And even if you can't get all the ingredients in this cookbook, the stories by the folks of Garden and Gun will make it a must-read. 

6) Making everyday a bit more decadent is a French art form.  Case in point, this French ceramic butter dish that will keep your butter soft and spreadable.  Novice to experienced foodies can appreciate that. 

7) Guide her to greener pastures- this Aura multi-use color stick in the color spark is said to be the green beauty dup for the cult classic Nars multiple in orgasm.  Universally flattering and non-toxic.   

8) If I could plaster my walls with Lulie Wallace's art work, I would.  But I think most girls would settle for wearing her prints instead.  The upbeat and cheerful nature of her work suits this scarf perfectly. 

9) Honest beauty's Magic Balm claims to hide a myriad of minor tragedies while doubling as a subtle highlighter. Sounds to me like a girls best friend.
